Forschungsplattform Frühe Neuzeit starts with a retreat.
Die Professorinnen und Professoren der Forschungsplattform Frühe Neuzeit an der JGU Mainz starteten mit einer Klausurtagung in die nächste Förderperiode der Forschungsinitiative des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz. Die Wissenschaftler und Wissenschaftlerinnen nutzten das zweitägige Retreat im Erbacher Hof Mainz, um gemeinsam ihre Forschungsprojekte zu diskutieren und die strategischen Ziele ihrer Arbeit festzulegen.
Innerhalb der Forschungsplattform Frühe Neuzeit an der JGU Mainz erforschen 14 Mainzer Professorinnen und Professoren aus den Bereichen der historischen Kultur- und Sprachwissenschaften in inter- und intradisziplinärer Perspektive Elemente und Figurationen des Nationalen in der Frühen Neuzeit. Angesichts des derzeit wieder aktuellen Phänomens nationaler Identitätsbildung und nationaler Abgrenzungen gehört es zu den wesentlichen Zielen der Forschungstätigkeit, die Prozesse der Nationenbildung in Europa in den frühen Phasen ihrer Ausprägung (14.–17. Jh.) aus einer kulturhistorischen Perspektive zu analysieren. Dabei sollen vor allem die Anfänge nationalen Denkens und Empfindens in Europa und ihre Ausprägungen z.B. in den Sprachen, der Literatur oder in der Kunst, Musik und Architektur sowie im Kontext von Stadt- und Hofkultur untersucht werden.
Als einer von insgesamt acht Potentialbereichen der JGU Mainz soll die Forschungsplattform Frühe Neuzeit mit ihrer interdisziplinären und innovativen Forschung wesentlich zur weiteren Profilbildung in den Geschichts- und Kulturwissenschaften an der JGU Mainz beitragen.
